We have a fantastic new PTA team now ready to help us all pull together to support our awesome school in lots of different ways. PTAs play a vital role in every school and here at Lowther we massively appreciate parents/carers getting involved in the life of their school, whether that be helping out, volunteering, fundraising, donating time or finances or just generally being involved in school life. Please do get involved in any way you can. |
We are very fortunate to have a PTA that is such an integral part of our school community. The PTA has raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our children's education and the school's facilities. Most recently we have paid for a batch of iPads, a 3D printer, a greenhouse and a workspace in our fabulous allotment. Money raised by the PTA also funds school trips for those families who need some extra help. The PTA encourages closer links between home and school and is an excellent way to bring staff, parents/carers and friends together socially in support of our school. All families are automatically members of the Lowther PTA when their children join our school. We welcome all parents/carers and members of the school community to get involved. Every contribution, big or small, personal or financial, makes a huge difference. The PTA is very conscious of the ethos and diversity of our school and we try very hard when organising and planning events to respect and consider those aspects. We're always open to new ideas for events or resources needed for the school, like the recent creation of the 'Reading Forest' library facilities pictured here... |
Our PTA is a member of the PTA-UK, which is a national charity and membership organisation providing support and guidance for all home/school associations in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our association is one of over 13,000 members in current membership of the PTA-UK. We pay an annual membership fee to the PTA-UK which gives us lots of member benefits including comprehensive insurance cover for all PTA run events, support and advice on running the PTA plus fundraising ideas and good practice hints and tips. PTA-UK also provides us with the opportunity to meet and communicate with other PTAs to discuss and share experiences. We receive termly publications, which are soon to be displayed on the PTA notice board and we receive guidance to ensure our events are legal and safe. In addition, we have a valuable resource at our fingertips.

To make a donation |
Like most PTAs, the majority of our funds are raised through the events we run, most notably the school's Summer Fair, Christmas Fair and Quiz Night. We always try to respond to requests from the school community. It's great to hear from staff and children about how resources are being used and enjoyed. We have also set up some facilities to enable donations to be easily made to us. For further details and options please visit our fundraising page here

Parents/carers are notified about PTA meetings and forthcoming events via ParentMail, Facebook and notes in book-bags. Look out for notices around the school and info from your child's Class Rep**. |
There are lots of ways you can help: |
Come to a meeting - have a coffee and a chat |
Run a stall at an event |
Offer your expertise - for example, baking, accounting, graphic design, etc, etc. |
Become a Class Rep** or PTA Committee member |
Bring family and friends to events and spread the word |
Please email us at lowtherschoolpta@gmail.com - we'd love to hear from you! ** A Class Representative is a parent/carer (or parents/carers) who volunteers on behalf of their year group to help with the coordination of social and fundraising events. If you are unsure of who your class rep is, please ask your child's class teacher. |
Facebook/Instagram are social networking sites that are intended for those aged 13 or over. Primary school children should not have their own accounts. At Lowther we take Online Safety very seriously and ask all parents/carers to regularly remind children how to stay safe on the internet. Please see our Online Safety Guide for Parents/Carers here and/or our E-Safety guidance for children here. |
We have developed strong links with the local community and are very grateful to be well supported by both residents and businesses. Many of our local shops generously provide donations for raffle prizes, auction items, etc, and some have taken part in our Christmas and Summer Fairs. We are also very grateful to the local businesses that have participated in charity matched giving schemes. This has made a huge difference to our fundraising efforts. Some of the many businesses that have supported/continue to support the Lowther PTA are: Marsh & Parsons, Sainsburys, Starbucks, The London Wetland Centre, Gail's Artisan Bakery, Kate Anderson Spa, The London Transport Museum, Barnes Bookshop, The Pedal Project, Pizza Express, BouquEat, Timothy Williams, Flowers by Cymbidium, Koya Bar, The Bridge Public House, Kidzania & Richmond Rugby. |
